1– Business Cards: Rick will provide logo business cards for Directors next year issue membership cards when dues paid
2 – Website status: All revisions done, up to date. Activate online contact forms.
3 – Bank Account status: Motion by Rick Montemurro to get one bank card only, for deposit purposes only Seconded Tyler Graham. Passed unanimous.
4 – Discuss Short/McDougall building Too much work required Bad location Unanimous decision NO at this time, may reconsider
5 – Mall and other location discussion Mall location acceptable pending details re: use of power tools, heat costs, lease length and rates as well as any other restrictions. Will continue looking at other locations pending funds and negotiations with property manager. Tyler mentioned possible Men’s Shed Canada grant to obtain a location. Will look into details.
6 = Garage Sale Planned for Sat. Aug. 9* in co-ordination with Car Show. “Junk in your Trunk” Private sellers can set up a table, trunk or pickup bed for $10 donation to Men’s Shed Shed members will be selling from theirs to donate sales to Men’s Shed Food sales? Not hot dogs, Car Club will do that. Bob Motion will look at Mens Shed aprons for some of us to wear for publicity. Ralph Willick will look at signs and posters.

Online forms are being added to the website that will enable people to join the Men’s Shed and request services of the Men’s Shed. They are not yet working but previews of the forms will be there on the CONTACT page of this website. If any members have suggestions to add or alter the forms you can send them to stuartlakemensshed@gmail.com or speak to Rick, Tyler or Mike directly.
A small informal meet on Tues. May27 discussed a few items and planned future actions: – We will send a delegation to District Council soon to present our case to obtain use of the former Legion building. It is the most suitable for the needs of this Men’s Shed and will present a sustainable use and service benefit to the entire community -Discussion regarding the possible donation of a reefer truck van, it’s use and where it could be placed if received. -Mentioned during the meet was the need to collect member information about their skill sets and willingness to do volunteer work, how the Men’s Shed will not perform work that competes with local businesses or tradespeople. Also discussed how a MS person skilled in that specific area should attend over work done by others for reasons of safety and liability. -A document needed to complete the setup of a Society bank account was delivered to the Credit Union.
Future meetups and official meetings will be announced beforehand to members and the public. Posters, word of mouth, phone calls and a banner on the landing page of this website will announce any events.
As of May 14 the Stuart Lake Men’s Shed Society is registered under the BC Societies Act. This will allow us to open a Bank Account for membership fees, event raised funds, and non tax deductible donations. Be aware that no financial moves (or purchases) can be made without the approval of four members of the Board of Directors and no payments will be made without that and two signatures of the designated Executives.
Formation AGM was held Tues. May 13 at the Curling Club
The Constitution, Code of Conduct and Bylaws of the Stuart Lake Men’s Shed Society were adopted.
A Board of 7 Directors was approved, and a maximum of 11 ruled. The Directors approved their positions Tyler Graham – President Mike Bird – Vice President Ken Tylee – Treasurer Rick Montemurro – Secretary Phil Short Ralph Willick Bill Howell
The mailing address of NMI’s Post Box was approved for initial use
Integris Credit Union Fort St James chosen to establish Society bank account Four directors will be chosen by the Directors to have signing authority of whom TWO signatures are required.
A special meeting has been called for Tuesday May 13th at 7:00 pm downstairs in the Curling Rink . It will be an initial AGM open to all in which a formal call for new and standing volunteers and nominations of the Society’s proper Board of Directors. New members welcome, paid up members can participate in any voting for positions that may occur. Updates on what’s happening and items regarding current and future events will be discussed.
